I use Windows XP and my friend accidentally downloaded a virus while trying to stream a video online (very bad, i know). I downloaded Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware software and, as far as I know, got rid of the virus. It prompted me to restart the computer since there were some files that could not be deleted. Now when I restart it keeps me at the welcome page and won’t let me go further. Same situation when I go into Safe-Mode. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as this is very frustrating and I’m not exactly ‘computer-savvy’.
tbshmkr- thanks for your input, but like i stated, i’ve downloaded the software and ran it. i restarted the computer and can’t log in!
Again, I downloaded the necessary software to rid the virus. I had to restart and every time I try to log in, it logs me off right away… point is, I can’t download anything anymore because I can’t log in- even in safe mode!
I CAN’T DOWNLOAD ANYTHING- I’M NOT ABLE TO LOG IN!!!!

you’ve missed the fact that Antivirus 2009 is a computer parasite and it is definitely not an anti-virus. try to run avg to remove this infection. however, you need anti-spyware to remove a threat like avg Antivirus2009 and might not work because avg is anti virus.
