My guest computer has all sorts of viruses, and i’ve run 4 virus scans and removed the viruses, 2 were from (PCTools Anti-Virus) and 2 were from Ad-Aware Personal SE. The computer still runs very slow, crashes sometimes, and still has a lot of offline pop-ups. This has happened before but the only way i fixed it was re-doing the whole computer itself, which i don’t wanna do again. So does anyone know how to completely 100% fix it without uninstalling everything, ect?
I had a similar problem about six months ago. I cleaned and scrubbed with and anti-virus and anti-spyware all to no avail. I ended up backing up my documents and then started clean. Before restoring my documents, I ran the scan on them and was able to successfully recover them. It sound to me like you have a deep rooted infection. I would suggest running your scans in safe mode windows loads since Significantly less crap in this fashion and chances are your virus or spyware problem will not get loaded into memory where it can cause a great deal of grief. So I would suggest you get a root kit tool to look for any infection in your root. Grisoft has a decent anti-root kit for free along with an anti-virus and anti-spyware available at http://free. grisoft. com. As with any tool, make sure that you have the latest updates applied to them. Good luck.
I’m sorry, but the only solution or advice that I can give you is to reinstall the operating system from scratch. And the next time around use a combination of antivirus and antispyware programs that you can get from the net for free. But before doing all these would have you format your disk thoroughly. Because I suspect that there could be every chance of a boot-sector virus sitting in your disk. And once installed, update your operating system to the latest by downloading all the security patches. . . . . . . . . . . . .
