I always thought I had firewall protection until I went to the windows security center and found out otherwise. I also have in the bottom right hand corner screen, 2 red shields with an x in the middle of it. How do I get rid of this and how can I protect myself from this in the future ??? Thanks
I cannot even operate my computer freely without it freezing up or trying to even type this without interruptions
I right clicked one of the shields and it says I have a security problem!!!
If you have an x ??mark against those shields it means that the related software is not active. Right-click the shield and you will get the details of the problem and possible solutions. The other step you can take is to Ensure you have current updates for your virus spyware. This you can do by Automating Windows update.

Malwarebytes is freeware and might do the trick.
