I’m pretty sure the spyware on my computer got there today. Its the bankerfoxa spyware and I have tried just about everything. I checked on my system restore and the last saved point was 12AM today. I checked and there wasn’t anything saved or done on my computer that I needed. I am pretty sure that a file that I got off my usb drive cause it and I used that 1 minutes before the spyware popped uo. If I did a system restore would it take care of my problem?

I have removed viruses / spyware using system restore in the past. You can try it, but it’s not 100% guaranteed to work. Well, in any case, it can not hurt to try. If system restore fails, I’d suggest running it in Window’s Safe Mode. Sometimes, antivirus and other software gets in the way of system restore – I’ve had system restore fail in normal mode and work successfully in safe mode. Anyway, good luck!
Not always. Just about every single virus I’ve seen ends up infecting the restore point so that if you try to roll the system back, you’ll just be rolling back on to infected state. Otherwise everyone would be doing this and viruses would not be a problem. Try Malwarebyte’s anti-malware or SpyBot Search & Destroy, Which are both great and are free. If they do not clear it out and you want a live person to help you out (which is better than any software), I would check out bleepingcomputer. com, techsupportforum. com, or geekstogo. com Each has trained analysts who can help you scan and clean your machine using specialized tools. Each is free.
Yes. System Restore will not delete any personal files
I do not think so. I think System Restore only works with your configuration files and other files that are critical for Windows to work. I do not believe it wipes your entire drive and back all copies of the files from your disk. In other words, I do not think a restore point is a copy of ALL the files on your disk, just the most critical ones. I’m not sure what OS you have but this one for XP gives some details on what it does and does not do: http://www. microsoft. com / windowsxp / using / helpandsupport / learn more / System Restore. mspxI would suggest getting yourself some good anti-virus software. That will detect the virus and remove it. I use Zone Alarm (http://www. ZoneAlarm. Com / security / en-us / home. Htm? Lid = en-us) It works well and is not too expensive. Good luck!
You can try restoring it, System Restore only restores the OS but no personnel files. so like word documents etc are not restored with windows. System restore might not restore your registry and execute the virus or spyware in your system But you might have shut the files of the virus somewhere in a temporary folder or anywhere in your hard drive. If you have already identified the virus then look it up online sometimes they explain step by step how to remove the virus manually. Like removing registry records and deleting files manually.
