I was Flimflammed into clicking where I should not have clicked and the result was trickery from an outfit called ‘spyware-doctor.’
They seem to want to infect you then suggest you download their product to “fix” the problem they created!
What’s a non-geek to do! Help!

reset the whole thing first save files you want then reset it
Lance, go to http://www. TrendMicro. com. From there, you’ll notice the options for House Call (a free virus scan, which you’ll obviously want.) However, you’ll also notice they now have ownership of the product HijackThis. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with this, but it does a brief scan of your entire computer, picking up suspicious BHO’s (Browser Helper Objects), ActiveX Controls (which can do everything from animation allow, enable scripting on your webpage , or even allow a remote user to jump into your pc.) Anyhoot, HijackThis, a free download (!), detects each and every one of these objects and assigns a code to them, like 017, R12, etc. It’s not unlike a game of bingo, in a sense. Be wary. When you’re given the option to check / uncheck Which problems / suspicious “issues” or “problems” you want to “permanently deleting them FIX “*****,’re from your system users must defer to analysts, Referred on websites from within the Trend Micro Network. (You’ll see an entire host of them listed-off on the same place you can download HijackThis.) <—– BTW, download the zip file, or the executable. I prefer the zip then, just “extract ave” For safeguarding, as a third and even better preventative measure for future occurrences (and cleanup), go to http://www. FileHippo. com. You’ll find CCleaner (formerly known as Crap Cleaner – no joke). It’s free, trustworthy, and reputable. If you’re running Vista, right-click before running it (VERY IMPORTANT) and choose the option “run as administrator.” It’s a one-step process. It’ll automatically delete all your cookies, cache, EVERYTHING. Right below that is a blue Rubic’s cube logo. That’s for your registry, Which is a detailed blueprint of your computer’s internal design. By clicking “scan,” it will detect any anomalies, possibly spyware, but definitely scraps of un-installed software, Which slows down your PC. In short, I’d follow this chronology: I. http://www. HouseCall. TrendMicro. comII. http://www. TrendMicro. com (download HijackThis), have your log analyzed) III. While your analysis is pending, go to http://www. FileHippo. . com and download CCleaner (I believe it’s under the menu cleaners PS – If you’re a Vista user, an alternative option may to be to try out Vista Manager It’s new, and I’m experimenting with it I found it on.. MajorGeeks. com, but LOVE it so far. I’ve used all of them, and this is an all-in-one product. I’m currently running Trend Micro anti-virus as my everyday (once suffered the click-on the-wrong-thing-D’OH! issue like you), and LOVE it… but Vista Manager is a great all-in-one tool, Allowing you to keep up-to-date w / junk file cleaning & ,..!. keeping registry that I mentioned earlier free You’ll notice a more aggressive processing speed I hope this helps Good luck Regards, Erik / Unrest
