My mom’s been complaining that whenever she goes to some web pages, there’s this song that comes on saying “Please Go To Sleep!”. Any idea on what’s wrong? Your answers are very much appreciated!
I have AVG Free and Spyware Doctor, just if you’re wondering. It probably isn’t detected by either program though.

Can you help me with a severe SpyWare infection?

This is horrible. If I do a google search, the choices I select are being redirected to a spyware site. Even WindowsUpdate is redirected. When instal Adaware, it can’t update, it’s blocked. Other spyware programs won’t work. Both of my browsers IE and Firefox have same problem. I’ve scanned in Safemode with Spyware Terminator, still does’t get it all. i can’t even do a system restore. help?? Recently I’ve tried to replace some system 32 files from my healthy laptop. What files you think are most likely infected? Which should I swap?
I just installed SuperAntiSpyware, but these spyware programs won’t let me update this one either.
And now for the outcome:

I followed the instructions, got rid of spyware terminator with revo and got myself “SuperSpyware…thing amajig.

First off, I couldn’t update it at first cuz this malware was blocking several types of updates on my comp.

So, I scanned in safemode and it picked up 4 new spyware threats, deleted and since then, I’m now able to update my computer as well as the antispyware programs. My hats off to that program. Thanks for the tip.

Can you believe that the spyware wouldn’t let me update all of these things?

One thing is not completely fixed yet:
“System Restore” doesn’t work. I can’t make new restore points and I’ve been unable to restore since this disaster.

Thanks

My computer has a spyware infection, how do I deal with it?

Okay, I was on my computer from 3:00-5:30PM today, just doing normal stuff. I log back on at around 7:15PM, and the background is blue, with a warning message in the middle saying the computer is infected with Spyware. The new screensaver is a bunch of bugs running around the screen. Any attempts to change these work initially, but are reverted when I log off. How should I deal with this problem?

Also, as a side note: The said computer has had lots of problems these past months, starting all the way back around September, maybe earlier. We’ve had a computer technician come over multiple times, but what he installs only seems to, how should I say this, cut off the tumor, but not treat the source. If, hypothetically, I wanted to revert my computer to how it was when we originally got it…would this, first of all, be possible? Would it cost more than just getting a new computer? Sorry I can’t offer technical details yet, but if they’re necessary, I’ll try to get them.
Thanks!
The answers I’ve been getting are incredibly helpful. I still have to check with my dad and brother if they think it’d be a good idea to format the harddrive, but it sounds like, at this point, it’d be a worthy cause.

Keep the good answers coming; I’m going to extend the life of this question to milk all the information I can from people, as I’m learning a lot! Thanks again!

i have a popup in my systems tray telling me(windows has detectected spyware infection), its a low level worm.

how do i get rid of it, so that it doesn’t keep popping up?

I have a spyware infection (I think it’s trojan, but I’m not sure) How do I get rid of the infection?

I use spybot now, and I immunized everything so stuff would be protected, but the infection is still in the computer and spybot says it can’t get rid of it. I also heard that if you try to do a system restore and you have spybot on your computer, it’ll mess up your hard drive?
Is it possible to uninstall spybot, do the system restore, then afterwards redownload spybot again?

My computer has a nasty spyware infection. What do I do to make sure the infection is properly/fully removed?

I want to browse worry free and I don’t want anyone to have my personal information. I have spoken to a few people and I have gotten conflicting information. One told me to just buy a antivirus program with spyware remover and that should take care of it. Another said spyware is very hard to remove and it must be done professionally for $200. I don’t know which one to do. All I want is the spyware completely gone and my computer to be back to normal. Does anyone have any ideas? Someone with computer knowledge would be preferable. Thanks!!!
It’s a fairly new computer and I have backed up the small amount of data that I want. I really just want to dump the operating system and reinstall. It is Windows Vista and my friend couldn’t do it. He said something about not wanting to crash the hard drive. How do I get rid of the OS and reinstall it without ruining my computer?
